| 由Capitol唱片公司以片號5498出版，John Lennon和Paul McCartney作曲。 製作人George Martin當時建議McCartney使用絃樂四重奏來伴奏。McCartney很不理解地對他說：「開什麼玩笑，我們是個搖滾組合。」George Martin說：「試試看麼！要是你實在不喜歡，告吹就是了，你還能回過頭來使用你的吉他」。於是，McCartney和George一起完成了這支歌曲的編配，感覺相當滿意。 《Yesterday》是1965年5月底到6月初錄製的。在英國，它先是放在先他一步嶄露頭角的單曲唱片《Help!》的B面。『披頭士』在美國的專輯中沒有收進這支歌曲。它在美國是以單曲唱片的面貌問世的。該唱片的B面是Buck Owens樂隊演奏，Ringo Starr領唱的歌曲《Act Naturally》。即使在英國，《Yesterday》也直到1976年登上排行榜第8位時才發行單曲唱片。由於英國人1965年忽視了『披頭士』的這支《Yesterday》，Matt Monro翻唱的版本反而出了單曲唱片，還列入了排行榜第8位。 據吉尼斯世界記錄報道：《Yesterday》是首支被翻唱了2500個版本，創下了歷史記錄。 McCartney本人並不擁有《Yesterday》的版權。1984年他在拍攝電影『Give My Regards To Broad Street』時想使用這支歌曲，卻不得不向出版社申請。 資料來源：EMI唱片 |
