| 與Elvis Costello、Graham Parker等人挑戰龐克風潮，成功將新浪潮樂種帶入美國的三巨頭之一 珍藏1979-1989年間暢銷曲：英#13+美#21一鳴驚人作＜Is She Really Going Out With Him?＞、創下英國金榜#5最高商業記錄的＜It's Different For Girls＞、雙入英美#6轟動代表＜Steppin' Out＞、首度入座美國現代搖滾榜#4的＜Nineteen Forever＞…等多達37首回味佳曲 與Elvis Costello、Graham Parker等人挑戰龐克風潮，並成功將新浪潮樂種帶入美國的三巨頭之一Joe Jackson，曲風更是橫跨流行、爵士、古典界，1979-2001年間曾贏得五次葛萊美獎的提名肯定。 來自英國本名David Ian Jackson的Joe Jackson，從小學會小提琴、鋼琴等技藝，16歲便開始在當地酒吧中演出，才華洋溢的音樂基礎天份，讓Joe獲取獎學金資格進入倫敦皇家音樂學院就讀，但是對過於嚴肅的古典理論完全不感興趣，逃開束縛的一頭鑽進流行/搖滾領域。Joe的第一個樂團Edward Bear，在70年代中期締造＜Last Song＞暢銷曲，為了不和加拿大相似團名的隊伍相混淆而改成Arms And Legs，不過就在兩首不賣座的單曲發行後，樂團也宣告解散，選以這期間所用的綽號Joe當藝名而正式單飛。接著利用在餐廳/夜總會表演所賺取的錢錄製DEMO，1978年終於和A&M Records簽下唱片合約，順利於隔年問市首張專輯《Look Sharp!》。最為成功的《Night And Day》，更打入美國本土的佔據Top4，英國則是季軍佳績，和牙買加藝人Lincoln Thompson合作跨界雷鬼作品堪稱一大突破。在賣座電影「Pretty In Pink粉紅佳人」中與創作才女Suzanne Vega合作＜Left Of Centre＞，引起廣泛好評。 這張珍藏1979-1989年間於A&M Records旗下發行的暢銷作品一次搜齊，更是Joe最為風光的巔峰歲月。包括：一鳴驚人打入英國Top13+美國Top21的＜Is She Really Going Out With Him?＞，覆蓋流行吉他音色，討喜的聲線很快引起樂迷強力支持，另加值收錄A Capella Version版本；充滿雷鬼調調的＜Fools In Love＞；創下英國金榜Top5最高商業記錄的＜It's Different For Girls＞；翻唱Jazz/Swing創作才子Cab Calloway的百萬賣座之＜Jumpin' Jive＞；1982年拱出最為轟動代表作＜Steppin' Out＞，包覆當時新潮New Wave音符快意躍入全美流行榜Top6+主流搖滾榜Top7+英國金榜Top6+德國Top28；同年再接再厲主攻動人小品＜Breaking Us In Two＞，也摘下美國Top18名次；輕快熱鬧依舊的＜You Can't Get What You Want (Till You Know What You Want)＞，寫下美國最後一支流行排行Top15；第一次入座美國現代搖滾榜Top4的＜Nineteen Forever＞…等多達37支回味佳曲。 資料來源：環球音樂 |
