| ★英倫搖滾之神 Mod教父 全英音樂獎得主最新現場精選熱作 ★橫跨20年創作歷程 英倫搖滾史詩紀錄 ★完整收羅The Jam的＜That's Entertainment＞、The Style Council的＜In the Crowd＞、＜Shout to the Top＞及個人單飛的＜The Weaver＞等時代金曲 我們似乎不用再花太多言詞去形容Paul Weller在搖滾殿堂中的地位，自The Jam、The Style Council時期以來，他不斷地引領音樂潮流，影響樂壇後進。從Punk、New Wave、Synth Pop、Soul、R&B直到Brit-Pop、Acid-Jazz，沒有一頁歷史會遺漏他的名字，他亦不曾在任何潮流中缺席，甚至在每個潮流中都扮演著帶頭向前衝的角色。直到今年獲頒全英音樂獎中，象徵英國樂壇最高榮譽的『音樂事業傑出貢獻獎』，他都仍然持續在推陳出新，為搖滾樂寫下新頁。 這張雙CD現場演唱專輯《Catch-flame》輯捕捉了Paul Weller不同時期的創作歷程。開場曲＜The Weaver＞收錄自93年的專輯《Wild Wood》，展現了90年代adult rock的風味，同一張專輯中的＜Foot of the Mountain＞經過重新編曲，尾段爽快酣暢的演奏令人大呼過癮。95年的《Stanley Road》，Stanley Road是Paul Weller從小長大的街道，這樣的命名無疑暗示了這是一張尋找音樂根源，向搖滾前輩致敬的專輯。其中多首在這張現場專輯中重現的歌曲例如＜The Changing Man＞ 、＜Broken Stones＞都能聽到諸如The Who、The Kinks等搖滾前輩所遺留的英倫傳統，在Paul Weller手上變成了一首首過去與現在的完美結合。 而97年的專輯《Heavy Soul》則充分表現了Paul Weller對六零年代迷幻搖滾與前衛民謠的熱愛，＜Peacock Suit＞一曲幾乎要帶樂迷走進時光隧道。夾雜在三張90年代的專輯間，一邊是本輯中收錄了五首歌曲的05年新專輯《As is Now》，＜The Pebble & the Boy＞完全展現Paul Weller的鐵漢柔情，是整場演唱中顯得特出的一曲。而另外一邊則是令老樂迷大為興奮的The Jam時期與The Style Council時期的經典名曲：站在Punk和New Wave的交界，78年的＜In the Crowd＞、80年的＜That's Entertainment＞、82年的＜A Town Called Malice＞分別出現在第二張的開場、中段與結尾曲，彷彿象徵時代的推進，尤其＜In the Crowd＞改編為長篇曲式，後段演奏部分由效果器與輪鼓堆疊出的音牆既古老又流行，讓樂迷不知今夕何夕；＜Long Hot Summer＞是The Style Council第一張專輯《Introducing The Style Council》的第一首歌，象徵Paul Weller進入Synth Pop時代的起點，而收錄於85年專輯《Internationalists》的＜Shout to the Top＞則再度用既溫柔又強硬的鋼琴聲，讓樂迷情不自禁地和Paul Weller一起回到那個美好的八零年代，此曲曾被收錄在電影「舞動人生」中。綜觀Paul Weller的這張現場專輯，有80年代的經典歌曲，有90年代他的尋根專輯，更有他年近五十仍然活力充沛的新作，相互交雜，在曲序安排上的刻意用心，呈現他三十年音樂生涯完整的創作圖像。如果你已經是他的粉絲，本輯當然是必收珍品，如果你還不認識這位英倫搖滾教父，就從這裡開始，一併認識由Paul Weller所引領的搖滾樂史吧！ 資料來源：福茂唱片 |
