| ＊開花結果於90年代的Brit-Pop風潮 英國極具代表並成功攻佔全球搖滾區塊的新勢力 ＊從1990到2006 精選回味16年來最為風光的排行紀錄 ＊點名：獨立廠一鳴驚人曲＜Indian Rope＞+首支英國金榜TOP10作＜The Only One I Know＞+＜You’re So Pretty, We’re So Pretty＞2006年舞曲混音版 老樂迷朋友別搞混了，造成撞名事件的The Charlatans，於美國曾是組僅維持四年曇花一現的60年代民謠樂團，今天的主角則是來自大英帝國的另類搖滾團體。開花結果於90年代的Brit-Pop風潮，成為英國最具代表也成功攻佔全球搖滾區塊的新勢力，隨著綠洲、布勒、麂皮、果漿、崔維斯…等團崛起，The Charlatans也在此派系中搶下一席之地，至今仍在主流大廠擁護下持續有新作問世。 來自伯明罕的The Charlatans，由原始主唱Baz Ketley(後來很快被Tim Burgess取代)、吉他手John Baker、貝斯手Martin Blunt、鍵盤手Rob Collins及鼓手Jon Brookes五人組成。隨著獨立廠單曲＜Indian Rope＞問世成為轟動地下搖滾界的作品，即刻簽入獨立大廠Beggars Records旗下推出首張處女秀《Some Friendly》，有先發單曲＜The Only One I Know＞登上英國金榜Top9的推波助瀾，專輯直奔冠軍寶座，成為當時英國極受寵的新進樂團，雖然也成功打進美國市場，但在他們做巡迴演出之時，被要求在The Charlatans後頭要加上UK字樣，以區分美國的The Charlatans樂團。1991年發行單曲＜Over Rising＞同時，吉他手John Baker離團由Mark Collins取代，1995與1997年兩張專輯接連封王，The Charlatans攀登音樂事業巔峰，新世紀交替的1999及2001年又交出兩張排行亞軍作，不時鞏固住Brit-Pop的堅強音網。 這張名為《Forever. The Singles.》的精選特輯，依序按照年份從1990-2006整整16個年頭，將該團最為風光的排行紀錄作一重溫回味。包括：獨立廠一鳴驚人的＜Indian Rope＞(此曲1991年重新發行仍打進Top57位置)；首度攻上英國金榜前十名之作＜The Only One I Know＞；第二張專輯《Between 10th And 11th》中奇幻多變的＜Weirdo＞；1995年冠軍同名專輯中的＜Just When You’re Thinkin’ Things Over＞；白金銷售紀錄的冠軍大作《Tellin’ Stories》，一連貢獻＜One To Another＞、＜North Country Boy＞以及＜How High＞三首Top10單曲；風光再造1999的＜Forever＞與＜My Beautiful Friend＞無比動人音線；末曲＜You’re So Pretty, We’re So Pretty＞，則特別收錄2006年舞曲混音版，放克搖滾舞曲獨特氣流，散放復古味濃的音韻，相當適合舞廳搖頭晃腦隨樂起舞之搭襯。 資料來源：環球音樂 |
