| ★ 蘇格蘭Glasgow傳奇三人樂隊，1998年備受好評精采混音專輯 ★ My Bloody Valentine、Kid Loco、Stereolab、Cornelius、Jim O’Rourke、Mouse on Mars、To Rococo Rot各路混音高手輪番獻藝 ★ 音樂權威網站Pitchfork破天荒給予9.5/10超高評價 The Pastels是一組來自蘇格蘭Glasgow的傳奇樂隊，1982年成軍以來，The Pastels經歷許多不同階段，對不同時期的樂迷來說，The Pastels這個名字也同時象徵著不同的意義。英國音樂雜誌NME，在1986年為The Wedding Present、McCarthy、Primal Scream、The Shrubs等多組新興樂隊，發表一張名為《C86》的合輯，而The Pastels的作品也獲得青睞選錄其中，雖然The Pastels對於被人貼上標籤感到無奈，卻也藉此讓更多英國聽眾認識他們。1987年The Pastels發表風格多元的首張專輯《Up for a Bit With the Pastels》，1989年他們發表第二張大碟《Sittin’ Pretty》，這個時期的他們還在磨合摸索，創作風格略偏重型狂躁。The Pastels經歷多次團員變動，然而進入90年代後，基本上有Stephen McRobbie、Annabel Wright與Katrina Mitchell三名固定成員，他們也常常邀請其它音樂人客串助陣，像是David Keegan (Shop Assistants)與Gerard Love (Teenage Fanclub)等蘇格蘭同鄉都曾經義氣相挺。1995年The Pastels正式加入英國新興廠牌Domino，並發表受到樂評一致讚譽的《Mobile Safari》。1997年發表他們第四張創作專輯《Illumination》。 1998年The Pastels針對專輯《Illumination》，發表一張後續混音專輯《Illuminati》，因為參與混音的樂手全是獨立樂界數一數二的傑出樂隊，使得這張專輯一發表便引發一陣熱烈討論。你手上的這張《Illuminati》邀請到愛爾蘭傳奇樂隊My Bloody Valentine、法國首席浪漫DJ Kid Loco、英國Post rock天團Stereolab、Tortoise與The Sea and Cake核心成員John McEntire、日本涉谷系天王Cornelius、英國跨界電音代表The Third Eye Foundation、美國前衛音樂大師Jim O’Rourke、德國電音代表Mouse on Mars、To Rococo Rot共計15組人馬，完成16首精采混音作品。The Pastels的歌曲本身就是品質保證，透過其它樂手的巧思改造，許多作品有了Chill out的電音質感，而輕快古怪的節奏安排，也呈現出意料之外的和諧與美感。《Illuminati》是一張樂史上不可多得的名盤，除了The Pastels與混音樂手的響亮名號外，以挑剔聞名的專業音樂網站Pitchfork，甚至破天荒地送上9.5分的驚人評價(滿分10分)。 資料來源：EMI唱片 |
